The room price is usually only the base.
At many private sulfur baths in Tbilisi, the headline price covers the room for a set time. Kisa, massage, towels, slippers and other extras may be charged separately.
That does not mean the bathhouse is hiding fees. It means you need to compare the full product, not just the first number on the booking page.
The useful question is: What does the room include, how long do you get, and which extras are charged per person?

At a glance
| Bathhouse / product | Base price | What the room includes | Kisa | Massage | Towels / slippers | What matters most |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chreli-Abano small room | 130 GEL | Hot sulfur pool, shower, toilet | 30 GEL on the current room-booking screen | Extra | Not included | Good low-cost private option for 1–2 people |
| Chreli-Abano standard room | 200 GEL | Depends on room; some include cold pool + Finnish sauna | Extra | Extra | Not included | Same price can buy different facilities |
| Royal Bath Room 5 | 150 GEL / 1h | Private room | 15 GEL pp | Foam massage 15 GEL pp | Towel 2 GEL, slippers 3 GEL | Strongest example of room cost vs per-person extras |
| Royal Bath Room 1 | 190 GEL / 1h | Hot + cold pool | 15 GEL pp | 15 GEL pp | Extra | Higher price buys a materially different room |
| Gulo’s Thermal Spa | About 160 GEL / 1h in a recent 2026 visitor check | Private bath | About 20 GEL | Not clearly published | Extra | Useful current secondary check, but no transparent live price sheet |
Current prices can change. The provider booking page should always beat an older guide or roundup.
What the room price actually buys
The biggest pricing mistake is assuming the room price is per person.
At both Royal Bath and Chreli-Abano, the private room is sold as a room product with a maximum occupancy.
At Royal Bath, Room 5 is 150 GEL for one hour and can take up to four people.
- solo: 150 GEL
- 2 travellers: 75 GEL per person
- 4 travellers: 37.50 GEL per person
The sulfur pool is part of the room product. Treatments are not.
What usually costs extra
Royal Bath is the clearest current example because the extras are listed separately:
- kisa: 15 GEL
- foam massage: 15 GEL
- towel: 2 GEL
- soap: 2 GEL
- sheet: 2 GEL
- disposable slippers: 3 GEL
At Chreli-Abano, the room-booking flow also makes clear that towels, slippers and massage are not included.
For kisa, Chreli’s current room-booking screen shows 30 GEL, while another official overview still shows 20 GEL. For a real booking, use the price shown in the selected room checkout.
That is a useful reminder: the live booking screen matters more than an older static overview.
How 150 GEL becomes 290 GEL
Take Royal Bath Room 5 for four people.
Room: 150 GEL
Kisa for four: +60 GEL
Foam massage for four: +60 GEL
Towels + slippers for four: +20 GEL
Total: 290 GEL
For a couple, the same combination is about 220 GEL total. For a solo traveller, about 185 GEL.
The room price did not change. The final bill rose because the room cost is shared, while the treatments are charged per person.

A more expensive room can be a different product
Do not compare rooms only by the headline price.
At Chreli-Abano, a 130 GEL small room is a simple private option with a hot sulfur pool and shower.
Some 200 GEL rooms add a cold pool, Finnish sauna, lounge space and changing area.
But even rooms at the same 200 GEL price can have different facilities.
So the right comparison is not 130 GEL vs 200 GEL. It is hot pool → cold pool → sauna → occupancy → space.
Marketing labels like VIP matter less than what is actually inside the room.
Kisa is cheap for one person, but not for a group
Kisa is usually inexpensive compared with the room itself.
- Royal Bath: 15 GEL
- Gulo’s Thermal Spa: about 20 GEL in a recent 2026 visitor check
- Chreli-Abano: 30 GEL on the current room-booking screen
For one person, that may barely change the decision. For four people, it becomes another 60–120 GEL depending on the bathhouse.
Group size matters in two opposite ways: room cost becomes cheaper per person, while treatment cost grows with every guest.
Is one hour enough?
Royal Bath prices its rooms by the hour.
Chreli-Abano lets you choose duration in the booking flow, but the current surfaced page does not give a clean universal 90-minute surcharge.
What matters is that treatments use part of the booked slot. Chreli describes kisa as roughly 10–15 minutes.
If you want time to soak, cool down, take kisa and get back into the water, one hour can feel shorter than it looks on the booking page.
Whether dressing time counts inside the slot, and whether there is a fixed overstay charge, is not clearly published in the sources checked.
First-timer mistakes
1. Assuming the room price is per person.
Often it is the price for the whole private room.
2. Assuming kisa is included.
Usually it is not.
3. Comparing two rooms at the same price as if they were the same product.
They may have different pools, sauna access and capacity.
4. Choosing by the word “VIP”.
Look at facilities, not the label.
5. Using an old guide instead of the live booking screen.
Chreli’s own pages currently show different kisa prices, which is exactly why the current checkout matters.
Bottom line
The first number you see is usually the room price, not the full ritual.
For couples and groups, a private room can become surprisingly reasonable per person because the base cost is shared.
Kisa, massage, towels and slippers work the other way: they are usually added per guest.
Before booking, check four things: room price → duration → maximum guests → per-person extras.
Do that, and most of the “unexpected” cost disappears before you arrive.
